Fatal Crash Hurts Powder Springs Pair

A Hiram man died in the three-vehicle wreck Saturday night in the Dallas area.

Two Powder Springs women were injured Saturday night in a three-vehicle crash that killed a Hiram man.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said troopers from the responded to the crash at the intersection of Georgia 120 and Georgia 92 in the Dallas area about 6:50 p.m.

Killed in the crash was 74-year-old John N. Voorhees of Hiram, a passenger in a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis that turned from eastbound Ga. 120 into the path of a westbound Chevrolet Tahoe.

The driver of the Tahoe was Vernell Brown Martin, 35, of Powder Springs. She and a passenger, Sherrie Green, 31, also from Powder Springs, were taken to in Marietta.

The impact spun the Mercury into a Ford Taurus stopped at the traffic light southbound on Ga. 92.

The Mercury was driven by Jackie Ann Voorhees, 73, John Voorhees’ wife. She was taken to Kennestone for treatment.

None of the injuries for those taken to Kennestone was life-threatening, Wright said.

The driver of the Taurus, James Joseph Brown, 24, of Austell, was not injured.

No charges have been filed.
