The veteran responder sustained a non-life-threatening injury to his back while on the home's back porch.

A veteran firefighter was hurt this morning while on the scene of a house fire on Caley Mill Drive in Powder Springs.

Cobb Fire & Emergency Services spokeswoman Denell Boyd said the fighterfighter sustained a non-life-threatening injury to his back while on the home’s back porch, but wasn’t sure of other specifics of the injury.

He was taken by Pucket EMS to Cobb Hospital, she said.

The fire was reported at 8:31 a.m., and responders first arrived six minutes later, Boyd said. They immediately noticed flames coming out of the attic of the single-story house.

The eight fire vehicles that responded had it under control by 8:55 a.m., Boyd said. Other than the garage area, the majority of the house didn’t have much damage, she said.

The adult and two teenagers who live there have been displaced and are being offered assistance from the Red Cross. They weren’t at home when a neighbor called the fire in, Boyd said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
