It wasn’t clear Tuesday morning whether five teenagers injured in a single-car wreck Monday in Lithia Springs were students of Douglas County.

Kathy Rathel, office manager for , said that because the school doesn't know the names of the teens, it isn't clear if they attend the school.

β€œUntil somebody comes and says something to us, then we do not know," she said. "I would think that if they were students of ours, somebody would have come to us."

Douglas County schools spokeswoman Karen Stroud also said she was unaware whether the teenagers attend school in the county.

The accident happened around 5 p.m. Monday on Monier Avenue in Lithia Springs, said Georgia Highway Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright. A 16-year-old driver lost control of the car, left the road and hit two utility poles.

The driver was taken to a Fulton County hospital for treatment, while the four passengers, ages 14, 15, 16 and 18, were taken to Cobb WellStar Hospital, Wright said.

The driver will be charged with failing to maintain lane, Wright said.
