Hit-and-Run in Powder Springs Involved Officer

She was stopped in front of the Powder Springs Road Taco Bell when a Powder Springs man allegedly "scraped the entire driver side of victim's personal vehicle" and drove away.

A Smyrna police officer was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Powder Springs.

The hit-and-run occurred sometime between 7:17 p.m. and 8:28 p.m. April 22 in front of the Taco Bell on Powder Springs Road.

The officer told Powder Springs police that she was in front of the restaurant when a white 2005 Jaguar "suddenly went into the center turn lane and ... scraped the entire driver side of victim's personal vehicle," according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.

Ameer Hakim Nadir, the Powder Springs man who was behind the wheel of the Jaguar, allegedly "turned into the Taco Bell paking lot, drove the wrong way down the drive-through lane, exited the parking lot, and went back onto Powder Springs Road," according to a warrant.

The officer followed Nadir onto Forest Hill Road.

At some point, he allegedly stopped his vehicle and approached the officer, who identified herself, drew her weapon and gave him verbal commands to get on the ground.

Nadir allegedly ran back to his vehicle and drove toward Old Villa Rica Road. The officer followed him again. Nadir stopped on Old Villa Rica Way and ran into the woods toward Macedonia Road, according to the warrant.

Nadir was booked April 24 on a charge of failure to return to the scene of an accident. He was released hours later on a $2,500 bond.
