Marietta Man Dies in Tuesday Night Crash

No charges are expected to be filed in the wake of the crash, which occurred on South Cobb Drive near Walker Street late Tuesday.

Cobb County Police on Thursday released the name of a man killed in a three-vehicle crash that occurred about 11 p.m. Tuesday on South Cobb Drive near Walker Street in Marietta.

According to a CCPD news release, killed in the crash was 19-year-old David Munlyn of Marietta. He was driving a maroon 2009 Kia Spectra that authorities say caused the crash.

Based on preliminary information, investigators say Munlyn’s Spectra was traveling east on South Cobb Drive near Walker Street at the same time a white 2010 Lexus RX350 and a blue 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser were going west on South Cobb Drive. For reasons unknown, the Spectra entered the westbound lanes of South Cobb Drive and collided with the Lexus. Moments after the two vehicles came to an uncontrolled stop, the PT Cruiser struck them.

The driver of the Lexus was 38-year-old Cherise Brown of Marietta, who was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the PT Cruiser was 39-year-old Charles Bryden of Marietta, who was not injured in the crash.

No charges are expected to be filed but anyone with information about this crash is asked to call 770-499-3987.
