Police Debut Facebook Page

There's a new way that the residents of Powder Springs can keep up with the department.

Those wanting to find out about local crime news now have a new medium.

The launched its Facebook page on Jan. 5; there, residents are being kept up-to-date with criminal activity, crime tips, the department’s employees of the month and more.

“Social media is of the times, and so we’re trying to tap into the very popular medium to communicate with the citizens of Powder Springs,” said Maj. John Robison, who along with Lt. Julie Collins came up with the idea.

Robison, the page’s primary poster, said using Facebook falls in line with the department’s push for a “community-oriented policing style."
