Powder Springs Crime Map: Smokes, TVs Stolen

Here are incidents from July 30-Aug. 6 responded to by the police department and mapped out on the markers below.

Burglary Forced Entry; Criminal Trespass

When: Between July 22 and Aug. 3
Where: 5200 block of Springtide Lane
A man told police that while he was out of town, his rear door had been forced open. Stolen was an LED TV, Playstation 3, laptop, mini laptop and money. 

Theft—Entering Auto

When: July 30 between 10:30 a.m. and 5:05 p.m.
Where:  at 4400 Brownsville Road
A man who works at the Kroger shopping center on Brownsville Road told police he normally parks behind Papa John's. On this day, the man said he left his windows down and doors unlocked because of the heat. Stolen from the car was the faceplate to his radio and two unopened packs of Marlboro 72s.

Theft by Taking More Than $500

When: July 31 between 8:45 a.m. and 7:49 p.m.
Where: 3700 block of James Road
A woman told police that she believes her daughter, who lives in Pennsylvanie but was temporarily staying with her in Powder Springs, stole TV and took it back to Pennsylvania.

Burglary No Forced Entry

When: July 31 between 1:30 and 2 p.m.
Where: 3200 block of Lancer Drive
The residents told police that while they were away from home, their 47-inch TV was taken. A juvenile neighbor said he saw a burgundy Buick with a male driver leave the driveway around the time of the incident.

Marijuana Less Than an Ounce

When: Aug. 2 at 11:21 p.m.
Where: Frank Aiken Road
Police pulled over a vehicle for running a stop sign at Morning Dew Court and Morning Dew Drive. The smell of marijuana came from within. While searching the driver, 22-year-old Corey Ramone Childress of Powder Springs, police found a "very large stack of 20 dollar bills" in his pockets. A small bag of marijuana was found inside the center console. Childress was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign and possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

Burglary Forced Entry

When: Between Aug. 3 at 10:15 p.m. and Aug. 5 at 7:45 a.m.
Where: 3900 block of Glenbrook Drive
A woman told police someone got into her house by breaking out a rear window and unlocking the door. Electronics, jewelry and various other items were stolen.

Theft by Taking

When: Between Aug. 5 at 11:59 p.m. and Aug. 6 at 2:41 p.m.
Where: Holliday Care Transportation at 3410 of Florence Circle
The business's owner told police that when he arrived at work, he saw that one of his vehicles, a 2003 Ford E-350, had been tampered with and the catalytic converter had been cut off.

Burglary Forced Entry

When: Aug. 5 between 5:20 and 9:35 p.m.
Where: 4800 block of Country Cove Way
The residents told police that when they returned to their house after a few hours, the front door was open and dead bolt damaged, like it had been kicked in. An estimated $2,000 in electronics was stolen.
