Powder Springs Driver Charged in Fatal Crash

The accident occurred Wednesday night in Marietta.

Charges have been filed against a 21-year-old Powder Springs resident involved in a July 24 accident that killed a 56-year-old motorcyclist from Kennesaw, the spokesman for the Marietta Police Department said this morning.

Chevelle Gore faces one count each of failure to yield while turning left and second degree vehicular homicide, Marietta Police Officer David Baldwin said in a statement.

About 10:35 p.m. July 24, Gore turned a 2001 Mazda Millenia into the path of Michael A. Michael's 1980 Harley Davidson, which was traveling southbound on Cobb Parkway, Officer David Auld said at the time.

The motorcycle struck the front of the Mazda, which was attempting a left turn from northbound Cobb Parkway to White Avenue, he said.

Michael was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
