Update: Driver Charged with Vehicular Homicide

William Webb, 23, is blamed for the death of a 74-year-old woman after driving his pickup truck into a parked vehicle Friday.

The driver of the GMC Sierra, William Webb, has been charged with reckless driving and vehicular homicide in the second degree, which are both misdemeanors.

Webb turned himself into police Monday afternoon and was processed at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Bond for Webb was set at $3,500.

According to jail booking records, Webb now lives in East Cobb in the 1600 block of Roswell Road instead of Powder Springs.

The 23-year-old drove a GMC Sierra pickup truck into a Ford Freestyle crossover vehicle parked along Church Street outside just after 4:30 p.m. Friday, said.

The Ford was knocked into Joanne Legg of Commerce, who was standing by the curb. Police said she died from her injuries in the hospital about 6 a.m. today.

The GMC Sierra was leaving the parking deck at 677 Church St. at the time of the accident and pulled into oncoming traffic before veering into the parked Ford, police said.

The Marietta police Selective Traffic Enforcement Unit continues to investigate the crash, and charges are pending against Webb.
