Teen Runs from Police, Charged with Burglary

He is also accused of obstructing police, loitering and possessing burglary tools.

A Powder Springs teenager was arrested on April 11 after he allegedly stole several items from a Lancer Drive home and ran from police.Β 

Police were dispatched at 9:47 a.m. on a call of suspicious activity on Lancer Drive, according to a report. The responding officer was told by dispatch to look for a male wearing a black shirt and black backpack.

The officer saw someone matching the description and who looked to be between 13 and 17 years old, the report says. When the officer called to him, the teenager began to run.

The teenager jumped a fence, and the officer announced over the radio that the suspect was running toward Hopkins Road between Hopkins Court and Wildhorse Drive.

Another police officer caught the suspect after seeing him running across Hopkins Road toward Mustang Drive.

The teen had a jewelry box, Nintendo Wii, laptop, cell phone, flash drive and $91.10, the report says. The residents of 3211 Lancer Drive (see map at right) reported the following items stolen: a Nintendo Wii and game controller, laptop, two jewelry boxes with jewelry inside, watch, flash drive and $60.

The teenager, whose name is whited out on the report, was charged with burglary, obstructing police, loitering and possession of burglary tools.
