Warrant: Craigslist Scheme Nets Man $1K

Kevin T. Tillery allegedly posted an advertisement about a townhome in Powder Springs that was available for lease.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of an Atlanta man who allegedly used Craigslist to make some quick money.

Kevin T. Tillery allegedly posted an advertisement about a townhome in Powder Springs that was available for lease, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.

A man responded to the Craigslist posting and allegedly met with Tillery to hash out the details of the lease. Tillery is accused of accepting a $500 cash payment as well as a $500 check from the man on Sept. 22, 2012, according to the warrant.

There was just one problem:Tillery did not own the property, a Powder Springs police officer wrote in the warrant.

And "the accused ... was not working for the owner of said property and had no authority to lease sale or rent said property," the officer wrote.

Tillery faces charges of computer theft and theft by taking.
