Advance Voting for Cobb Run-Offs Begins Monday

County residents are encouraged to check out sample ballots before heading to the polls on Aug. 13.

Turnout for Cobb run-offs in 2004 and 2010 were about 15 percent, Cobb Board of Elections Director Janine Eveler said. In the 2000 run-off, only 2 percent of eligible voters participated.

For this run-off, residents can vote in advance on Aug. 13-17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cobb Board of Elections main office at 736 Whitlock Ave. in Marietta or one these locations:

  • East Cobb Government Service Center, 4400 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta
  • South Cobb Community Center, 620 Lions Club Drive, Mableton
  • Northstar Church, 3413 Blue Springs Road NW, Kennesaw
  • Boots Ward Recreation Center, , 4845 Dallas Highway, Powder Springs

Voters are advised to request the correct ballots: Republican, Democrat or non-partisan.

During the July 31 primary, Eveler said some voters were confused about which ballots to request.

For instance, some who identified themselves as independents erroneously asked for non-partisan ballots and were surprised when the ballots did not include particular races, she said.

Conversely, no Republicans signed up to run for the commission seat that represents the Democrat-heavy District 4 in Southwest Cobb. So blue voters will decide who will win .

Just Republicans, though, will be voting between two GOP Cobb Superior Court clerk candidates: Rebecca Keaton and John Skelton.
