Cobb Commission To Vote on Furlough Days

The dates are May 27, June 17, July 1, Aug. 5 and Sept. 1, which are each in different pay periods.

Furlough days for Cobb County employees could be set at Tuesday's Board of Commissioners meeting.

Earlier this month, in an effort to make up a $27.1 million shortfall in the 2011 budget, the commissioners  reserve money, furlough days and other measures to get through the remainder of the fiscal year ending in September.

A resolution has been drawn up for approval Tuesday. The designated days in it are May 27, June 17, July 1, Aug. 5 and Sept. 1. They all fall in different pay periods.

County Manager David Hankerson will come up with procedures for the departments that can’t cease operations on those days.

It has been previously discussed that furlough days for fire and police staff could be juggled to keep all areas covered.
