Council Candidate Disqualified

Evidence presented at a hearing this morning showed Edith Page Gude's property is outside the city limits.

Edith Page Gude has been disqualified for November’s elections.

Gude, who was running for at-large Post 1 seat, was challenged as a resident of the city Sept. 13 by Powder Springs elector Charles Hudson, according to a news release from the county.

This morning, the Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration held a hearing to determine Gude’s eligibility.

Hudson presented evidence, including 2010 and 2011 tax bills, that showed a homestead exemption on a property outside the city limits. Gude didn’t attend the hearing but did submit documents presented to the board on her behalf.

With two board members absent, Gude was disqualified by a vote of 3-0.

The two remaining candidates, incumbent and , will square off Nov. 8.
