Police: Suspected DUI Driver Steers into Crash Scene

A Cartersville man early Sunday morning allegedly drove into the scene of an accident where injured motorists were being treated in the roadway by emergency medical crews.

Michael David Ledbetter, 28, of Brent Circle, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving on a closed roadway. 

Ads on CCT Buses? Commissioners Will Decide

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners is expected to approve a contract today that will allow advertising on the windows of Cobb Community Transit (CCT) buses to generate additional revenue.

As reported by The Marietta Daily Journal, the process to approve a contractor for this project has taken roughly a year because of the lack of competitive bidding.

Inmates Clean Up Dumped Tires

Inmates of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department cleaned up more than 70 tires that were dumped off Wood Road, according to the sheriff's office. The tires were disposed of at the landfill recycle center.

‘Panhandler' Convicted of Killing Tourist in Midtown

Wanique Odwin, 29, was convicted by a jury Monday on a charge of murder felony murder for an incident at a Midtown gas station four years ago.

Jurors also returned guilty verdicts against Odwin of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm furing a felony in the shooting death of 48-year-old tourist Kashma Avery, and one count of aggravated assault against 33-year-old Jay Abernathy, who was traveling with the victim.
