Eckert Turned Down for Colorado Job

The commissioners of La Plata County decided against hiring any of the five finalists for the county manager position, according to the Durango Herald.

Powder Springs City Manager Rick Eckert was the only candidate for a county manager position in Colorado to make it to the second round of interviews, but in the end was turned down, according to the Durango Herald.

Eckert was one of five named as a finalist for the position in La Plata County in December.

The city manager was interviewed for the second time Friday, the Herald reported. None of the five will be reconsidered as the job search continues, the newspaper added.

A message was left with Eckert this morning, and the story will be updated with his comments when he calls back. He previously said he applied for several jobs when , former Police Chief L. Rick Richardson, was and stood a chance of winning.

Eckert, who was born in Colorado Springs, also noted that his mother, a 100-year-old World War II veteran, and his sister live in Colorado. β€œIt’s kind of home."

Eckert makes an annual salary of $115,000.
