Listen: Exchange Between Powder Springs Mayor and Resident

Leesa Raaum, who told police in April that Powder Springs Mayor Pat Vaughn hit her with a door handle as she was shutting a door, made a recording of the incident and gave it to police.

The two live in the Country Walk subdivision, which Vaughn oversees with her property management business, . The recording was made at Vaughn's business office on the Town Square.

Raaum and Vaughn can be heard talking about a missing key in a discussion that gradually escalates. Near the end, Raaum said she'd like her husband present before talking further; Vaughn said, "Out you go, bye"; the door shuts; and Raaum says, "Oh my God."

Vaughn was after the investigation.

In , police said the accounts from the witnesses—an employee of Vaughn’s business, Diane Macavage, and two members of County Walk’s Board of Directors, Ann Taylor and Billie Williams—conflicted with Raaum's account. Raaum said the contact wasn't something that met a crime, police added.
