Supporters of a Kennesaw man convicted of killing an armed trespasser in 2005 are claiming a small victory after a Georgia Superior Court judge recently issued a ruling that could free the man.

Baldwin County Judge Hulane E. George found that John McNeil received "ineffective" counsel during his trial and suffered prejudice because jurors were not informed that they could acquit him "based on his justified defense of his son," according to a final habeus corpus order signed on Sept. 25. Douglasville Opens New Parking Garage

The city of Douglasville cut the ribbon Monday to a new downtown parking garage that can hold up to 300 cars.

"The lot has been closed since October of last year, and this is a great day for downtown businesses," Community and Downtown Services Director Marcia Hampton said. "They not only get back the 120 spaces they lost, but also 180 more spaces."

Man Sentenced 60 Years for Child Molestation

A Douglasville man who plead guilty to molesting a female child for the majority of her life received a 60-year sentence Monday.

Arthur Gerald Crosby, 47, will serve 25 years in prison and 35 years on probation after entering a guilty plea to three counts of child molestation. 

According to the victim, Crosby began the sexual abuse when she was 6 years old. By the time she reached age 13, she was often molested two or three times a week. Read more...

PGA Champions Tour May Be Coming to Gwinnett

Saturday Morning Fire Guts Canton Home

A late morning fire devastated the home of a 73-year-old Canton woman who was in Dawsonville celebrating her birthday.

The home was completely gutted, though no injuries were reported. Both lanes of Sam Nelson Road were shut down until authorities completed cleaning the scene. Read more...
