5 Indicted on Drug Trafficking, Money Laundering
Following a yearlong, multi-agency investigation of two drug trafficking organizations, five South Cobb men and nine others have been indicted and arrested on charges of trafficking narcotics from Mexico and laundering the drug money.
During the course of the investigation, multiple kilograms of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine woth $1.6 million were seized.
“The indictment of these 14 defendants is a step toward making Atlanta a safer community,” U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said in a release.

Roommate Charged in Man's Death
The suspect who police believe killed the man found last week in the Chattahoochee River has been arrested.
Hajja Kenyatta Miller, 39, of Decatur was taken into custody Saturday. According to his arrest warrant, he is charged with aggravated assault and felony murder.

Investigators believe Miller shot 39-year-old Ralph Taco McGhee in the head. The two men were believed to be roommates.
Douglas Sends Sunday Sales to Voters
As expected, Douglas County Commissioner Ann Jones-Guider was the only dissenting vote in a 4-1 decision to allow Sunday sales and by-the-drink measures on the Nov. 6 ballot. The commissioners made the vote during their 10 a.m. meeting Tuesday.
Atlanta Income Segregation One of Country's Worst
Atlanta has been rated as one of the country's worst cities for income segregation.
A Pew Research report examined the number of low-income families that live in a low-income Census tract versus the percentage of high-income families that live in a high income Census tract.
The results put Atlanta high on the list of the low-income category, ranking sixth behind other major cities like New York, Miami and Houston.
