Sneiderman Charged in Husband's Death

Andrea Sneiderman has been charged with murder, insurance fraud and perjury in connection with the shooting death of her husband, Rusty Sneiderman.

The indictments were announced by DeKalb County’s District Attorney Robert James Thursday.

"We seek justice for anyone who lost a loved one in DeKalb County," James said.

Kennesaw Man Disappears in Mountains

Authorities in Rabun County are looking for a Kennesaw man who went missing while in the North Georgia mountains.

According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Richard Arnold "Rick" Masters, 56, was reported missing on July 21 by his brother after not being heard from in two days.

Masters reportedly liked to hike in the area of Tallulah Falls, and his unoccupied Jeep Cherokee was found last Thursday at the end of Kelsey Mountain Road, which is where he likely had been hiking, the newspaper reports.

Openly Gay Judge Elected

Attorney Jane Morrison won her nonpartisan race for a seat on the Fulton County State Court Tuesday, making her one of the first openly gay judges in the state.

Morrison garnered 61 percent of the vote to Magistrate Judge Melynee Leftridge's 39 percent. The seat became open when Judge Brenda Cole retired after 14 years on the bench.

Morrison's partner is Fulton County Commissioner Joan Garner, who on Sunday blasted a new 30-second automated robocall to Fulton County voters.

On the call, Garner stated, “I’m calling you and your neighbors to ask you to join me in voting for Jane Morrison for State Court judge. Jane’s fair and honest and will do a great job for everyone and Fulton County.”

Prosthetic Leg Returned to 6-Year-Old

It had been at the Watkinsville police station for about a week and a half, and on Thursday morning, a found child-size prosthetic leg was returned to its rightful owner: a 6-year-old boy.

The prosthesis was found along Barnett Shoals Road in Oconee County by a jogger on July 23. The mother told the Athens Banner-Herald the leg most likely fell off of the roof of the car.

Man Accused in Child's Death Found

A man accused of murdering a Lawrenceville child more than five years ago has been arrested in Mexico.

On June 21, 2008, arrest warrants for Christian Vasquez were obtained, charging him with the murder of a 3-year-old girl at a home on Stillwater Lane in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

Authorities finally caught up with Vasquez on Tuesday in Puebla, Mexico.
