Pursuit Continues for 30127 ZIP Code

Powder Springs is still waiting to hear back from the U.S. Postal Service about a possible change for those inside the city but having Hiram's 30141.

Mayor Pat Vaughn signed a letter dated April 27, 2011 that was addressed to Kate F. Wiley, district manager of the U.S. Postal Service. In the mayor's letter, she requested that residents who reside in Powder Springs but have the 30141 ZIP code be included in the 30127 ZIP code and delivery area.

The mayor's letter dated April 27, 2011 was also sent to Ms. Sheila Davis from Congressman David Scott's office. I followed up with the mayor via the Powder Springs website in August 2011, requesting an update. The mayor did not contact me, but I did catch up with her at a Saturday breakfast at .

She informed me she had resent her letter to Ms. Wiley after not receiving a reply and planned to take this concern with her on a planned trip to Congress. The mayor suggested that I move in the direction of gathering signatures for a petition from the effected community.

I continue to work with the mayor on the 30141 ZIP code issue. The mayor's trip to D.C. that was scheduled last month with the Cobb Chamber was canceled do to 9/11 security issues.
