Setback for Powder Springs Chickens

The City Council will consider her request next month.

Lorena Litares' request to keep backyard chickens is scheduled to go before the Powder Springs City Council at 7 p.m. July 16.

But the woman was dealt a blow this week when city planning and zoning commissioners recommended that city officials deny her application, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

During the July 16 meeting, council members are also scheduled to decide if previously prohibited chickens will be allowed in the city, according to the AJC.
