Undocumented Mableton Man Voluntarily Returns to Mexico

Juan Carlos Guevara, a Pebblebrook graduate and undocumented Mableton resident, left for his native country of Mexico on Friday on a bus headed to Dallas, TX.

After being accidentally deported in March and brought back in June, Guevara risked deportation again if he did not leave voluntarily or show up for a court hearing on Monday, Aug. 13.

After a drunk driver hit his vehicle on June 4, 2011, Guevara was arrested and taken to jail by Cobb police for driving without a license, which is when his immigration issues began.

Cobb Police Make Arrest in Salon Case

Cobb police have arrested the owner of the Salon Avenue Suites on Sandy Plains Road and charged him with unlawful surveillance.

A camera was discovered in a light in Suite 110 of the business, police said. According to 11 Alive News, women typically received Brazilian wax treatments within the suite in question.

Alternate Funding Sought for Canton Corridor

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Cobb District 3 Commissioner JoAnn Birrell is proposing a unique funding plan that would help to pay for a dozen of 38 suggested targets for renovation along the Canton Road Corridor and greater Cobb County.

The four-mile stretch of road between the Marietta city limits and Cherokee County is the business heartland of Northeast Cobb County.

Details Emerge on Skeletal Remains

Officials have released additional information in the search for the name of a young woman whose skeletal remains were found in a Lawrenceville neighborhood last week.

Based on a medical examination, the remains are now believed to be that of a black woman between the ages of 19 and 22. In addition, investigators place her height at 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, police said in a press release.

Cumming Challenges Sunshine Laws Constitutionality

City of Cumming officials have challenged the constitutionality of Georgia's sunshine laws.

In response to a lawsuit filed by Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens alleging the city of Cumming violated those laws last April by barring Nydia Tisdale from videotaping a city council meeting, City Attorney Dana Miles said the law is unconstitutional.
