Varner Renovation Bids Under Budget

Out of the three projects funded by SPLOST that the Cobb school board is to vote on later this month, renovations to were the only ones that were bid under budget, the Marietta Daily Journal reports.

The project at Varner includes adding hand dryers to bathrooms and replacing bathroom stalls and flooring. The list of approved Varner projects funded by the 2009 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax is attached.

The project was budgeted at $374,500, and the three bids were $304,600, $309,000 and $335,000, with Beatty Construction of Austell being the lowest bidder, according to the MDJ.

The Board of Education will vote on awarding the contracts on Feb. 23, the newspaper says.
