What Is Your Stance on Gay Marriage?

We want to hear your reaction to the recent developments on the issue, including President Obama's support, the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" repeal, and the statements from Chick-fil-A's president.

In May, President Obama became the first sitting president to back gay marriage.

In an ABC interview, he said: "I have to tell you that over the course of several years, as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or Marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don't Ask Don't Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married.”

Last year, the president led the charge in formally ending “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” which prevented homosexual people from openly serving in the military.

Republican and presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has been open about his opposition to both civil unions and gay marriage

"Well, when these issues were raised in my state of Massachusetts, I indicated my view, which is I do not favor marriage between people of the same gender, and I do not favor civil unions if they are identical to marriage other than by name," the former Massachusetts governor told Denver's Fox affiliate. "My view is the domestic partnership benefits, hospital visitation rights, and the like are appropriate, but that the others are not."

Perhaps the biggest controversy surrounding gay marriage making current headlines is Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy expressing his support of marriage being strictly between a man and a woman.

The restaurant chain was distributing Muppets toys in their kid’s meals until the Muppets ended the relationship, saying: “The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO, is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation).”

About a week ago in San Diego, active military members wore their full uniforms for the first time in a gay pride parade.
