Harrison Football Kicks Off Friday

The Hoyas are hoping to rebound from a 3-7 record last year, starting this week with their scrimmage against Hiram.

The football team hopes to rebound from a 3-7 record last season and set themselves above their Region 4-6A counterparts—which will be no easy task judging by the nine Cobb teams they're up against.

The region includes West Cobb powerhouses and , which both lost in the second round of last year's playoffs, finishing their seasons at and , respectfully. The other teams are Campbell, Kennesaw Mountain, Marietta, North Cobb, Pebblebrook and South Cobb—all .

Those teams were previously in the 5A classification, but last year, the Georgia High School Association for the biggest high schools in the state.

Leading the Hoyas' will be , who has coached the sport for almost 40 years, most recently as the Tennessee Titans’ assistant special teams coach from 2005 to 2011. He replaces David Hines,  after the 2011 season.

  • Sept. 7—Alpharetta (Home)
  • Sept. 14—Campbell (Away)
  • Sept. 21—Pebblebrook (Home)
  • Sept. 28—North Cobb (Away)
  • Oct. 5—Kennesaw Mountain (Home)
  • Oct. 12—Bye Week
  • Oct. 19—South Cobb (Home)
  • Oct. 26—Hillgrove (Home)
  • Nov. 2—McEachern (Away)
  • Nov. 9—Marietta (Away)
