Annette Winn Gets $14,000 for AYP Progress

The school is one of four in Powder Springs and Lithia Springs named a Title I Distinguished School by the Georgia Department of Education.

will receive $14,416 in federal funds for being a Title I school that for 10 years in a row.

The school is among 824 named a Title I Distinguished School by the Georgia Department of Education, a title earned by being a Title I school that has made AYP for at least three years.

"These schools are showing that high expectations, coupled with effective educators in the building, produce outstanding student achievement," State School Superintendent John Barge says in a news release. "I'm very pleased to recognize the educators, students and parents in these schools and school districts."

Title I schools have significant populations of students who are economically disadvantaged. These schools receive federal money to assist with the education of their students.

Title I Distinguished Schools that have made AYP for three to nine consecutive years are awarded a certificate, while those that have made AYP ten or more years, like Annette Winn, receive a federal monetary award.
