Cobb Students To Compete in Reading Bowl

Forty Cobb schools will take part in Saturday's competition at McEachern.

The sixth-annual Cobb County School District Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl takes place on Saturday. The fast-paced academic competition, which uses a game show-style buzzer system to answer questions about books, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at McEachern High School.

The following schools will be represented:

  • Elementary: Big Shanty, Birney, Brown, Brumby, Clarkdale, Davis, Eastvalley, Ford, Hayes, Hendricks, Intermediate Smyrna Academy, Keheley, Kemp, Kincaid, LaBelle, Lewis, Norton Park, Shallowford Falls, Still, Teasley, Tritt.
  • Middle: Campbell, Cooper, Dodgen, East Cobb, Hightower, Lost Mountain, Lovinggood, Mabry McCleskey, McClure, Smitha, Tapp.
  • High: Hillgrove, Kennesaw, McEachern, North Cobb, Osborne, Sprayberry Walton.

The competition is preceded by a parade of schools. The top two winning teams from each level advance to next level. The state competition takes place in March.
