DeKalb DA Returning to Springs

J. Tom Morgan, author of "Ignorance Is No Defense: A Teenager's Guide to Georgia Law," is set to speak at Lovinggood Middle on Feb. 23.

Former DeKalb County District Attorney J. Tim Morgan, author of Ignorance Is No Defense: A Teenager’s Guide to Georgia Law, is set to speak to 's 8th grade class on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 2:30 p.m.

Parents are invited to attend, and a limited number of the books will be for sale for $10 at the school store or by emailing LMSPres@lovinggoodptsa.com.

Morgan, a nationally recognized expert on prosecutions against children, spoke at last March; were alcohol, drugs and sex as they apply to young people.

He has appeared on CNN, the Oprah Winfrey Show, Court TV, the Today Show and 48 Hours.

The program "promises to be very interesting for both parents and students," an email from the school says.

"He has spoken to teenagers and parents regarding Georgia laws that impact young people and offers an engaging presentation that aspires to help teenagers avoid situations in which they violate the law or are hurt by others who violate the law," the email says.
