“We’re doing this for the community and we’re really excited about it,” he said. “We do want the community to be seen and to be heard."

It will be moderated by a member of the PTSA and another Powder Springs citizen. The latter moderator has been narrowed down to three possibilities, Anchrum said.

Attendees will be given a note card when they arrive to write a question on, he said.

“And if we have some community members who may have some pressing questions that need to be asked,” he added, “we have no problem with asking those questions.”

Anchrum expects the event to be well attended. Invitations are about to be sent home to Tapp parents through their children and by email, he added.

So far, Anchrum said, “the response has been incredible, it’s been absolutely incredible.”

During the PTSA’s opening statements, Anchrum said the difference between the Cobb County Board of Education and Powder Springs’ city government will be explained.

“But we want to see a little bit more involvement between the city of Powder Springs and some of the out-of-school activities we have … that make things more comfortable for our kids, and actually for the parents as well.”

On Tuesday, there will be an unrelated event during the Powder Springs Business Association’s monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the ’s . There, Vaughn and members of the City Council will have an informational discussion about their role in the city, association President Tom Hatch said.

Hatch said that though this event is unrelated to the Nov. 8 election, there will likely be a question-and-answer portion.

The association’s monthly luncheons are free for first-time guests, $15 for non-members, and $10 for members.
