Hillgrove Senior Receives $5,000 Scholarship

Katherine McIntyre was one of three selected out of a field of 250.

Katherine McIntyre, who graduated from  in May, has been selected as one of three high school students out of a field of 250 to receive a $5,000 scholarship from Delta Community Credit Union.

In their sixth year, the scholarships are based on academic achievement, school and community involvement, and a short essay submission, according to a news release from the credit union.

While working two part-time jobs, McIntyre is president of the Beta Club, an AP honors scholar, and a member of the National Honors Society and Art National Honor Society. She’s also the captain of Hillgrove’s cross country team and a member of the soccer team.

She is active with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. She plans to attend the University of Georgia and dual major in biology and pre-med.

“Delta Community Credit Union congratulates the tremendous efforts of all participants and wishes them much luck and success as they continue on to future achievements,” Rick Foley, president and CEO of Delta Community, says in the release. “It truly is our privilege to provide for and play a role in the future of our young members through programs such as this scholarship and our other community development initiatives.”
