Local Female Athletes to be Honored

Hillgrove, McEachern and Lithia Springs high schools will all be represented at Kennesaw State's Bobbie Bailey Awards ceremony on Monday.

Three local students are set to be honored at Kennesaw State’s Bobbie Bailey Awards ceremony, which highlights accomplishments of female high school athletes.

They are:

  • Meredith Heyer—
  • Pachiyaanna Roberts—
  • Alexa Walker—

The Bobbie Bailey Awards are in recognition of the 22nd annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day. They are sponsored by the Kennesaw State University Health, Physical Education and Sport Science Department, along with the Georgia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.

The guest speaker will be Lindsey Harding, guard for the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream.

High school athletes from Cobb, Cherokee, Paulding, Bartow and Douglas counties will be recognized, as chosen by their respective schools. During the ceremony, the successes of Kennesaw State women’s athletic teams are also recognized.

The celebration begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the M. Bobbie Bailey and Family Performance Hall at Kennesaw State. The event is free and everyone is invited to attend, though the ceremony may be best suited for those 10 years old and up. The theme this year is "Title IX at 40: In It for the Long Run.”
