Lovinggood Middle Orchestra 'Gives Bach'

Orchestra also chosen for prestigious performance in Savannah.

The Lovinggood Middle School Chamber Orchestra recently presented the first two concerts of their new “Giving Bach” series. This prestigious group of 30 eighth-grade students, under the direction of Barbera Secrist, performed a program of holiday music and traditional classical music at the Town Center Mall and Delmar Gardens.

The LMS Chamber Orchestra will be “Giving Bach” in the spring as it continues to bring music to the Cobb community. According to Secrist, “locations are still being finalized for additional performances.” All concerts are free and open to the public.

TThe award-winning orchestra was also selected to perform at the Georgia Music Educators Association Annual Conference in Savannah. The ensemble was one of only two middle school orchestras from Georgia to be chosen. LMS orchestras have consistently received superior ratings at the annual Large Group Performance Evaluation since Lovinggood opened in 2006.
