McEachern Alum Named Athlete of Year

Young Harris College selected golfer Courtney Moore as its top female competitor for the 2011-12 school year.

Courtney Moore, who graduated from in 2008, was named Young Harris College's female Athlete of the Year late last month.

Moore, a 5-7 senior majoring in biology, led the Mountain Lions to five top-five finishes. She earned all-tournament honors at three tournaments: Georgia Mountain Trophy, Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational and North Georgia Spring Invitationals.

She recorded three top-five and five top-10 finishes for the Mountain Lions. She was the top Young Harris golfer, with a 81.9 stroke average in nine events. 

Moore amassed a .776 winning percentage (309-89 record) in head-to-head competition. Her best finish was third with an 87 at the first-ever Mountain Lions Invitational in 2010.

She has been chair of the college’s Honor Council and has a 3.64 cumulative grade point average.

At McEachern, she had a 4.0 GPA as a freshman and sophomore and earned an All-Academic Award as a sophomore and senior.

She won the Georgia Merit Award as a junior, and graduated with a Dual Diploma in Career Technology and College Prep. She was also a Member of Spanish Honors Society, BETA Club, National Technical Honors Society and National Honors Society.

Moore works at Dogwood Golf Club in Austell. She is the daughter of Donald and Patti Moore and has one brother, Travis.
