Paulding Band 1 of 4 in Radio Show Contest

Once again, the South Paulding High School band has advanced in the “Battle of the High School Marching Bands." Find out how you can help the band win $5,000.

The South Paulding High School band could be less than a month away from winning $5,000—but only if it earns enough online votes in an Atlanta-based radio show’s contest.

The “Spirit of South Paulding” has once again advanced in The Bert Show’s "Battle of the High School Marching Bands." It was one of 28 high school bands to begin the contest; the third round of online voting ended Sunday night, and South Paulding earned more votes than Hendersonville High School in Tennessee to move on to the fourth round of four schools.

The local band is now competing against that of Walnut Grove High School in Loganville, and Bert Show listeners and band supporters who visit the contest website can view videos of the two bands performing and then vote on their favorite in that matchup and three others. Voting in the fourth round of the contest ends Sunday, Dec. 2.

The two bands that win their fourth-round matchups will go head-to-head in online voting Dec. 3-16, with the winner announced Monday, Dec. 17. The winning band will receive $5,000, according to the radio show’s Facebook page.

You can vote in the South Paulding-Walnut Grove matchup here.

The first round of the contest also had the Hiram High School “Band of Gold” competing against Hillgrove High, but the latter ended up advancing in the contest.
