Update: McEachern Coach Bonds Out of Jail

Terence Tarpley made his $5,000 bond at the Cobb jail at 12:23 a.m. Friday, more than eight hours after he turned himself into authorities on Thursday, jail records show.

The McEachern coach's profile has been taken off the school's football website. It had him listed as the head girls track and field coach, but elsewhere on the site, he's listed as the boys and girls assistant coach over sprinters, short sprints and relays.

He's also listed as an assistant girls basketball coach.

His booking started shortly after 7 p.m. and was complete about 8:30.

He remained there about 9:15 Thursday night on a $5,000 bond for a sexual assault charge. A charge does not indicate a conviction. 

Earlier in the day, a news release from Cobb police said he is a Powder Springs resident, but the booking report lists him as living on Barcelona Drive in Marietta.

Cobb police believe that Terence Tarpley, a teacher and coach at , had an off-campus sexual relationship with an adult female student earlier this year.

Tarpley, 33, of Powder Springs, is charged with sexual assault and is expected to turn himself into authorities today, according to a news release from Cobb police. Jail records indicated that he was not in custody as of 5:30 p.m. 

Tarpley coaches the defensive backs for the McEachern football team and is the head girls track and field coach, the school’s website says. He is a native of Atlanta; has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Marshall University, where he played football and ran track; is a former Campbell High coach; and has a wife and two small children.
