Two standardized tests await students at Cobb seventh graders on their return from the Labor Day weekend.
From Sept. 4-13, seventh graders will be taking the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test) and the ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Skills). These important tests will gauge how much students have learned and how well the district is teaching its students.
The CogAT tests students' reasoning abilties. Combined with the ITBS, which measures student achievement in reading, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies, the two tests can have a predictive value of the educational quality in a specific school or school district.
Students must be in their assigned testing locations by 9:15 a.m. each day or they will not be allowed to take the section of the test being held that day. Makeup sessions for all test parts will be available in the afternoons of school days.
