Tapp Middle Students Meet MLK Family

Students toured MLK birth place and center.

Forty Tapp Middle School students, including 8th grade student leaders and the Men of Tapp, participated in a tour of the Martin Luther King birth place and the MLK Center earlier this week.

In honor of Dr. King’s 85th birthday, the students were invited to participate in a discussion with King family members, including daughter Dr. Bernice King and niece Angela Farris Watkins.

The students heard personal stories about Martin Luther King’s life and discussed “practical ways for youth to manage conflicts in their daily lives, at home, school or in their communities based on Dr. King’s philosophy of nonviolence.”  Tapp students were commended by the King family for their insightful questions and scholarly behavior.
