Sprayberry and Wheeler high schools, Cooper Middle, and Brumby, Clay, Fair Oaks, and Powers Ferry elementary schools are the other seven schools that made AYP as a result of summer testing.

“The addition of these nine schools means that 90 of 110 Cobb schools met the sharply increased targets required for AYP,” a news release from the school district says. “For the first time since the inception of No Child Left Behind, the Cobb County School District met all indicators for academic proficiency in 2011.

“Despite that accomplishment, the district did not meet increased graduation requirements for Students with Disabilities and English Language Learners, leaving Cobb just short of making AYP as a district.”

Here are the totals of schools now meeting AYP in Cobb:

  • Elementary: 60 of 68
  • Middle: 19 of 25
  • High: 11 of 16

Additionally, seven of the district’s 110 schools remain on “needs improvement” status, the release says.

The Georgia Department of Education will show different AYP totals because, unlike the school district, it includes Imagine International Academy of Smyrna, Kennesaw Charter Science and Math Academy, the Devereaux Center, and Imagine International Academy of Mableton, according to the release.
