Tapp Principal Addresses Threatening Message

The student who wrote the potentially harmful note on a bathroom wall at the middle school "is not reflective of our student population or our school," Jeanne Walker said.

Acting Principal Jeanne Walker addressed parents Thursday in a letter on the school’s website about the .

“Please rest assured that we will use all available resources to provide a safe and secure learning environment for our students,” she wrote. “This situation was caused by one student who made a very bad choice, and the student will received consequences according to our district policies. This student is not reflective of our student population or our school.”

Late Wednesday afternoon, a student reported the message to a teacher, and after the graffiti was photographed, it was removed.

Walker wrote that the school has interviewed “multiple witnesses” and has identified several suspects. The student who did it “was likely seeking attention or to cause a distraction rather than intending a serious threat,” the letter says.

During an early morning meeting staff meeting Thursday, employees were “instructed to exercise extra vigilance to protect our students.” Students’ belongings were closely monitored, additional security officers were brought in, and parent volunteers provided additional supervision.

It remains unclear what exactly the message said.
