Cobb Girls Soccer Teams Advance
Harrison, Walton, Lassiter, Pope and Hillgrove were among the first-round winners Tuesday.
Some of the Cobb-based favorites in the Georgia High School Class AAAAAA girls soccer tournament easily won their first round games on Tuesday.
No. 1 Harrison had the easiest time of all, thumping Valdosta 10-0. The Lady Hoyas will play at home again next Tuesday against East Coweta.
Lassiter, Walton and Hillgrove also shut out their first-round opponents. The Lady Trojans got both goals from Breanne Thompson in a 2-0 win over Grayson, while the Lady Raiders downed Dacula 3-0.

Hillgrove also won by a 3-0 score over Camden County.

Next Tuesday, Walton plays host to South Forsyth, Lassiter is at home against North Gwinnett and Hillgrove travels to Newnan. Douglas County, which defeated Alcovy 2-1, faces Lowndes, which eliminated Kennesaw Mountain 2-1.
North Cobb lost 3-2 to Tift County.
In Class AAAAA, Pope blanked North Atlanta 1-0 to advance to a second-round game next Tuesday at Flowery Branch. Tonight, Allatoona plays at home against Heritage of Conyers.
Alexander defeated Johnson of Gainesville 1-0 to go to a second-round meeting in the Class AAAA tournament against Marist, which trounced Cass 10-0.
