Lady Hawks Aiming for Final Four Berth
Here's what's happening in high school athletics in Powder Springs and Lithia Springs on May 6.
To get to the state quarterfinals, the No. 3 seeded girls soccer team has had to pull off two upsets. First, they knocked off No. 2 seed Newnan. Then on Tuesday, they thumped No. 1 seeded Savannah Arts 6-0.
For the Lady Hawks to advance to the state Final Four, they won't have to upset anyone to do it. Hillgrove will be taking on another No. 3 seed—Mill Creek—in today's state quarterfinal.
The two teams had one common opponent this season: Lassiter. On April 19, the Lady Trojans beat Hillgrove 3-1. In the first round of the state tournament last week, Mill Creek knocked off Lassiter 1-0.
