Hillgrove Hosting Harrison in First Place Showdown

Here's what's happening today in high school athletics in the Powder Springs-Lithia Springs area.

will hit the midway point of its region baseball schedule today when it hosts defending AAAAA state champion Harrison in a showdown of epic proportions.

The Hawks and Hoyas—along with North Cobb—are tied for first place in Region 4-AAAAA with a 5-1 record. Officially, Harrison and Hillgrove are atop the region thanks to their identical non-region records of 13-5; North Cobb sits at 10-8.

A win in today's game would give Hillgrove an early leg up in the race to the region title. However, it won't be easy—Harrison will be riding a 4-game winning streak into the game, which includes a 23-4 win over a strong Pope team. The first pitch at Hillgrove is scheduled for 5:55 p.m.
