Hillgrove Needs Game 3 Win to Advance to Semis

Here's what's happening in high school athletics in Powder Springs and Lithia Springs on May 18.

The Hawks had to play from behind in both games of their GHSA AAAAA State Baseball Quarterfinal doubleheader against second-ranked Mill Creek on Tuesday, .

“You have to play seven innings every game,” said Hillgrove coach Dave Richardson, speaking about what his team needs to carry from Tuesday’s games into the winner-takes-all final today.

“You can’t take any time off mentally, and I felt like we had a lull there in the second and third innings and they (Mill Creek) put up four runs.”

Max Oberkofler will be on the mound for Hillgrove at 5:55 p.m. for the deciding Game 3. The winner will advance to the semifinals to take on the winner of the Newnan-Brookwood series, which is knotted at one game each.
