It's West Cobb vs. East Cobb in 'The Battle of the Big Chicken'

Hillgrove plays Walton tonight at 6, followed by McEachern vs. Lassiter in a televised football doubleheader.

If last year's games are any indication, tonight's "East Cobb-West Cobb" doubleheader really ought to be worth watching.

And if you can't make it to the Walton-Hillgrove and Lassiter-McEachern games at McEachern's Cantrell Stadium, you can watch it from the comfort of home. That's because CSS-Southeast is showing the whole thing, starting with Walton vs. Hillgrove at 6 and Lassiter vs. McEachern at 9.

Last year's games—won by the East Cobbers—were barn-burners, as the MDJ points out this morning, and were attended by a total of around 10,000 fans.

And all four teams are among the best in Class AAAAAA. Only McEachern is ranked, at No. 3. Walton fell out of the rankings after losing to Peachtree Ridge in the Corky Kell Classic last weekend.

Tonight will mark Lassiter's season opener. The Trojans were undefeated and ranked No. 1 going into the state playoffs last year, but lost to Brookwood in the first round.

Quarterback Eddie Printz has moved on to the University of Missouri, but Wesleyan transfer Will Anderson comes in with big passing numbers that have set some school records.

If you can't wait until 6, Score Atlanta has put together this downloadable guide, "The Battle of the Big Chicken," with more than you'll probably want to know.
