Police: Coach Sexually Assaulted Minor

Coach Charged With Sexual Assault of Minor

Isuru Pasan Perera, 31, of Marietta was arrested for multiple sexual offenses against a minor.

The original incident occurred in June 2010 when the female juvenile attended the Champion Softball Complex on Commerce Park Drive, according to police.  

Perera, who was the victim’s coach/trainer, used his position to "coerce and intimidate the victim to commit multiple sexual acts against her," police said.

Man Shot, Killed by Apartment Security Guard

Cobb police investigators have identified the victim who was fatally shot at an Austell apartment complex as 27-year-old Andre Oliver.

According to witnesses and preliminary information, Oliver was shot in the complex parking lot by the Parkview Apartments security guard after they were involved in a physical altercation.

Church Sign Reads 'Come Whores'

An East Atlanta church has taken a direct approach in appealing to a certain segment of the population.

The sign in front of the Blessed Life Apostolic Overcoming Holy Church of God on Glenwood Avenue reads simply, “Come Whores.”

Caller Threatens to Blow Up Building, Then Offers to Buy It

A caller from somewhere in New York started by making a bomb threat to a local Verizon Wireless building. But during later calls, he changed his request to free minutes, and then to buy the company.

During the first call at 6:09 a.m. on Sept. 2, the caller said: "I need you to transfer all the money in your company to my phone. If you don't, I will detonate an EMT in your building."

After getting the caller to repeat his request, the wireless company employee asked for the caller's phone number. The caller responded by cursing at her and hanging up.

Memorial for 'Fallen Heroes' Dedicated on Sept. 11

Fulton County first responders and other officials joined on Tuesday's Sept. 11 anniversary to hold a dedication ceremony for the “Circle of Honor” Public Safety Memorial. 

The memorial honors Fulton law enforcement and others in public safety who lost their lives serving the community.
