McEachern 20, Marietta 7 – head coach Kyle Hockman praised his defense after the game for keeping Marietta quarterback Anthony Jennings contained for most of the game. The Indians came close to blanking the visiting Blue Devils in McEachern’s first defense of the state’s No. 1 ranking it received last week from the Associated Press. ()
Hillgrove 45, North Forsyth 0 – scored within the first 15 seconds of the game Friday, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. Jimontay Witherow scooped up a fumble of North Forsyth’s kickoff return and carried it 17 yards for a score. Hawks running back Kenyan Drake carried the ball eight times for 113 yards and a touchdown.
Lithia Springs – The Lions varsity team had the weekend off, but the junior varsity team to take on its upstart program Friday.
