Celebrate Independence Day in Powder Springs

Weather permitting, Wednesday's event will mark the 17th year the city has hosted Fourth of July festivities.

Powder Springs is set to kick off its 17th annual Independence Day Celebration at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Town Square off Marietta Street.

Admission is free, and festivities include live entertainment, food, children's activites and a fireworks show. Reserve seating is available by calling 770-423-1330.

  • 4 p.m.—Scott Thompson, acoustic set
  • 6 p.m.—Music and games
  • 6:15 p.m.—The GLOW Band, which plays pop songs, R&B and disco favorites
  • 7:15 p.m.—Music and games
  • 7:45 p.m.—The GLOW Band
  • 9:15 p.m.—Patriotic program
  • Dark (about 9:45 p.m.)—Fireworks

The National Weather Service is forecasting a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. Chances will decrease to 30 percent by 8 p.m. The high is 96 degrees, with the low at 72.
