End of the World on Saturday? Shop Local Until the End!

More of what is going on in downtown: Friday and Saturday sales!

Have you heard that the world is ending on Saturday? With only 2 days left, what book do you most regret never having read? Why not hop over to the to get that last read in!

If you've driven through downtown in the last few days, you may have observed many bodies moving and piling boxes and loading truck. Customers of the Book Worm know that for years, you could exchange gently used books for store credit.

For the last few years, we have had a building on Broad Street that we used as our processing center to keep our aisles clear, for the most part, and store all those thousands of books that come in. It was a great idea for a long time, but now we have had to go to plan B and move them all into a storage facility and go back to taking them into the store again.

We will be turning our kitchen into the new trade-in center this week so hopefully the renovations will go quick and painlessly, and we will be back to normal soon. While we undergo this transformation, we decided to have a promotion called "50 Days of Giveaways," which started just a few days ago.

Just "like" us on Facebook to get in on the $100 worth of gift certificates we will be giving away and see what the giveaway of the day is. We have lots of first editions and signed copies to give away, among other things.

Don't miss out on meeting author Anna Jean Mayhew with her new novel, The Dry Grass of August, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. If you liked The Help by Kathryn Stockett, you will surely love Anna Jean's book.

The wants you to remember that the band Shea's Gin will be performing at 8 p.m. on May 27 at the shop.

The group, as initially conceived by Jason Chitwood and Will Avery, was intended to be a stripped down folk/Americana sound with minimal drums. However, shortly after forming, Chance Strickland joined the mix on drums, and the band decided to give an indie edge to traditional folk and Celtic sounds.

Soon after, Joel Mendelson found his way into the band to round out the sound with the low end on bass.

I hope you will support the local coffee shop and local band—if we are still here to hear them perform!
