Wildhorse Creek Girl Scouts Make History

Members are exhibiting vintage Girl Scout uniforms, Girl Scout memorabilia, and Powder Springs history at the Seven Springs Museum.

Local Girl Scouts present a historical Powder Springs Girl Scouts beginnings at the . 

Bronze award candidates Chloe`of Troop 10445, Kiana and Elizabeth Lee-Ann of Troop 2143 researched and archived Wildhorse Creek Girl Scout service unit information learning it began in 1986.

The Bronze award is one of three high honors in girl scouting.  Eligible Junior scouts perform a minimum of 20 hours to complete a community service project.  Along with creating the exhibit, these scouts created a media resource center for all troops in Powder Springs.

On the exhibit's opening day 35 guests visited including Greater Atlanta Girl Scouts Archives/History committe members Linda Bishop and Sue Beldon, Powder Springs residents and Wildhorse Creek Girl Scout alumnae Sue Lahr and Billie Cooling who were Service Unit Directors from 1988-91. 

Vintage uniforms, Girl Scout memorabilia and scrapbooks filled with photographs, certificates and newspaper clippings completed the exhibit.  The exhibit will show for two weeks.  The museum hours are Wednesdays 10 am - noon, Saturday 12 - 4pm and Sunday 1 - 4 pm located at 3901 Brownsville Rd.
